I’ve been wanting to add more color to my wardrobe, and I thought incorporating it through sneakers would be a fun approach. The Steve Madden Dodge and Madrid sneaker collections at Dillard’s immediately caught my eye—they’re so fun and have multiple colors to choose from. I was gifted the Dodge Mixed Media Low-Top Platform Sneakers in red, which is definitely outside of my comfort zone since my wardrobe is mostly neutrals, but I wanted to try something new.
When I first tried to style them, my outfits felt a bit too “skater” for my taste. I initially paired the sneakers with high-waisted loose jeans and a basic tank, but I wanted to elevate the look to feel more like me. Since the shoes have a casual, sporty vibe, I decided to go for trousers and a tube top to add a more feminine touch. I accessorized with some gold jewelry and a simple black purse. To tie in the red, I added a baseball cap with just a hint of red and I’m so happy with how it turned out.
I had so much fun styling the red sneakers that I went ahead and ordered the Madrid sneakers in silver and blue. I also noticed that Steve Madden had leopard jeans, which I’ve been wanting for a while, so I finally pulled the trigger and bought them. I’m really stepping out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. I can’t wait to share how I style the rest of my pieces!
