My grandpa retired last week, so our family spent the weekend in San Francisco to celebrate him.
It’s a beautiful thing to retire after spending nearly every day of your life working. To reach a chapter where you can finally focus on yourself — without the stress of working for someone else. To enjoy the quiet or the excitement, depending on what the day brings, and to close a chapter that defined so many of your years.

We had lunch at 606. I laugh as I write this, but if you can get past the stale, slightly unpleasant smell of the restaurant, it’s a family favorite — mainly because of the food, of course!
I’ve lived in the Bay Area my whole life, but I had never visited the original Fortune Cookie Factory, or even known it existed, until we headed there after lunch. It’s wild, especially since I grew up loving fortune cookies!
Afterwards, we headed to Little Italy. There was some kind of festival happening that weekend, so my family and I sat in the park, enjoyed the Italian desserts we picked up from Stella Bakery, drank wine (I had matcha), chatted, and soaked in the sunshine and beautiful weather.

I also stumbled upon the cutest plant shop and loved that each plant was labeled as pet-friendly or not. The owners have cats themselves, so I really appreciated that extra thought. I ended up spending $90 on two plants and two vases — definitely a bit of a splurge, but I’m always happy to support a local business. I don’t buy plants often, so these were intentional purchases. I’ve been wanting to bring more greenery and flowers into my home, but I still have to be mindful of my fur babies.
It’s moments like these that remind me how important it is to make time for the people I love — and to slow down and appreciate all the beauty our hometowns have to offer. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of work and routine, but weekends like this bring me back to what really matters.
What I wore in the city:

The weather was perfect for a San Francisco weekend — a bit breezy, but just right for a transitional summer outfit. I love starting with a classic, simple base and dressing it up with jewelry, shoes, and accessories. Let’s not talk about my wrinkled jeans, ok. I still need to buy an iron!
