january 2024 beauty empties

I’ve accumulated some empty skincare products over the last few months and am finally getting around to writing my reviews about them. Just for context, I have combination skin. My T-zone tends to be oily, while the rest of my face feels dry or normal.

Skincare Empties that Made the Cut

Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum: It took two 1 oz. bottles to see a difference, but it was worth it. I love how hydrated it makes my skin feel and look. It’s nourishing, but also super lightweight and not sticky at all. I’m currently trying the Dr. Jart Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Serum Toner because it’s more affordable. Dr. Jart costs $39 for 5.07 oz, while Cocokind costs $44 for 1.9 oz.

The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Hydrating Face Serum: This, plus the Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum, is chef’s kiss – SO good. I’m on my third bottle–I may buy the jumbo size next. I have a newfound appreciation for hyaluronic acid and serums that focus on hydration and improving the skin barrier. Also, The INKEY List offers great value for those who enjoy saving money.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Super Glow Serum with Vitamin C+E: This one will always be a fave. It’s gentle and hydrating, while also visibly making my skin brighter and glowy. I’ve repurchased this multiple times.

Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40 Sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide: This is hydrating and leaves your skin super glowy, so if you want to add a little more life back into your complexion, this is perf.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Nourishing Moisturizer for Skin Barrier: I received two small samples of this and liked how lightweight and hydrating it was for my skin–it absorbed this product well, and the price is great for an everyday moisturizer. Some reviews mention pilling, but I didn’t experience it.

Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre: This locks in moisture and is super hydrating. I’d say it’s a bit richer, but it still applies very nicely and absorbs well.

Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Therapeutic Multi Purpose Cream: Love is an understatement when it comes to the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm. My sister introduced me to this product, and I’ve never looked back. Since I have combination skin, some areas of my face get really dry. This balm helps soothe and keep my skin supple. It’s very hydrating yet lightweight–a repeat in my skincare routine.

RevitaBrow® ADVANCED Eyebrow Conditioner: I have sparse brows, and this conditioner actually makes them thicker. I have to use it every night in order to see a difference. It’s pricey, but it’s about a four month supply each tube, and I’ve purchased this multiple times.

Twenty Twenty Beauty Easy on the Eyes Calming Face Mist: I love hypochlorous acid–it’s such a great addition to your skincare routine because it’s anti-inflammatory, helps to reduce breakouts, and heal skin. However, this specific product from Twenty Twenty Beauty is way too expensive for the amount of product you get (2 oz). You can buy the same hypochlorous acid from Active Skin Repair for a better price.

Skincare Empties that Missed the Mark

SEPHORA COLLECTION Day & Night Hydrating Lip Set – Strawberry + Watermelon: I usually love Sephora Collection products, but these two made my lips dry and feel like there was a film left on them once the balm dissolved. The scent was also stronger than I prefer.

Farmacy Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer: There wasn’t anything that wowed me with this product. It’s mediocre, and the price outweighs the benefits. My skin didn’t feel as plump or hydrated as I thought it would, and I wouldn’t purchase it again.
