A month ago, I switched up my skincare routine and began Youth to the People’s Superfood 3-Step Clear Skin Routine. And I am so happy to say that I have found a promising routine that cleared my acne.

It’s been a few months since I quit taking birth control. I have been taking it since I was 15 years old and I’m now 24, so I wanted to see how my body reacted without additional hormones. A few weeks after quitting, my skin started to break out more than ever with cystic acne and small pimples. It had been the most I was breaking out, which is what I was scared of because the initial reason I began birth control was to clear my skin.

I usually have a gentle skincare routine with the occasional retinol serum, but this time I had to amp it up with more exfoliants and actives to tackle my acne.

I resorted to trying out the holy grail product people swear by: Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. It worked wonders, but my skin felt really dry beneath the surface. Although it cleared my skin and texture, it wasn’t gentle enough to use it every day or even once a week. I started to use it once every other week, but I wanted something more gentle for daily use. That’s when I decided to try Youth to the People.

Youth to the People

I first heard about Youth to the People through my friend because she loves their Superfood Cleanser which I tried while I was visiting her. After a while, I decided to look more into the brand. Youth to the People is fairly new. Founded in 2015, they aim to reach for a higher standard within their products, the planet, and people.

Product

Youth to the People creates consciously-sourced, nutrient-dense premium superfood blends and pair them with clinical, PRO-GRADE VEGAN™ actives, all made in California for the benefit of our skin’s health.

Planet

Youth to the People are in the business of consumption and acknowledge it. They change by knowing that they can do more. They believe that an individual can spark a movement for conscious consumption. Every step counts. Their goal: do better than yesterday, do better for tomorrow.

People

Their Giving arm is a foundry for people who care about people and the planet. Youth to the People’s initiatives support non-profits and activists working to amplify diverse voices and increase inclusivity, build a more just world, and save the planet.

Their mission and their products have been raved about, so I had to finally switch up my skincare routine to try them out. I bought one of their bundles: The Superfood 3-Step Clear Skin Routine.

The Superfood 3-Step Clear Skin Routine – My Review

I’ve been doing this simple Youth to the People routine for the past month and my skin has been loving it so far! It has been the routine that cleared my acne. For reference, I have combination/oily skin. With this regimen, I have little to no breakouts and my skin feels healthy and looks glowy.

1. Superfood Cleanser

The Superfood Cleanser works to gently remove makeup, SPF + pore-clogging impurities. Although it’s a foamy, sudsy formula, my skin doesn’t feel dry after washing it, but rather light and clean. It’s a simple, everyday facial cleanser that you can’t go wrong with.

The scent is light, refreshing, and natural and the packaging feels luxurious. I would caution where you store the cleanser as the bottle is made of glass.

2. Superfood Unity Exfoliant

The Superfood Unity Exfoliant effectively clears pores and boosts barrier health. Ever since I started working in skincare, I learned the importance of taking care of your skin barrier. It’s a rainforest that protects your skin from pathogens, so it’s important that it’s resilient, strong, and healthy.

I initially started to use the liquid exfoliant every night with a cotton round, but realized that it was gentle enough to use morning and night. My skin doesn’t feel stripped nor does it feel dry and cracked. I was honestly amazed because I had thought that the BHA’s and AHA’s would dry out my skin, but it didn’t. It really is a gentle solution. I highly recommend the Superfood Unity Exfoliant to anyone who has sensitive skin and is looking to add actives into their skincare routine.

Out of my whole skincare routine, I think this liquid exfoliant was the main game-changer that cleared my acne.

I also found that it works best when I apply the liquid exfoliant directly to my face. I pour a few drops into my bare, clean hands and pat it into my skin.

3. Superfood Moisture Cream

Lastly I follow with their Superfood Moisture Cream which plumps skin + locks in lightweight, lasting moisture that won’t clog pores. It has given me the perfect hydration. I wake up with my skin feeling plump and rejuvenated.

When I feel like I want extra hydration, I’ll apply Vaseline or Aquafor to my undereyes and dry spots.

Final Thoughts on Youth to the People

I don’t think I will be changing my skincare routine anytime soon as these Youth to the People products are the main routine that cleared my acne, giving me promising results so far. I do use these products in tandem with other serums like Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid, but other than that, this is my main foundation of skincare.

Since I have had such a good experience with Youth to the People, I really want to try their other products. Let me know which ones you love!
