For a warm and subtly spicy scent… grab the Maison Margiela ‘REPLICA’ Coffee Break Eau de Toilette

Ever go in a coffee shop and wish that you could smell like it? This is it. This is the one scent to turn heads because it’s unexpected, sophisticated, and elevated. It’s pleasantly surprising with the “subtle aromas of warm coffee and milk mousse accord that blend with a sweetness defined by vanilla. This fragrance is blended atop light musk while the fresh spearmint and lavender is revealed once set on the skin for a long-lasting, fresh scent that is balanced by a soft sweetness.”

It’s by far my favorite perfume of all time that can be worn through all seasons. You can wear it during the Fall/Winter days and nights or cold Spring/Summer nights.

Top Notes

Coffee Accord, Red Apple Accord, Lemon Essence

When you first spray the perfume, you instantly smell the coffee accord, which is supposed to emulate the taste, texture, and emotions you get when drinking coffee. The scent quickly dissipates to the middle notes that introduce the unexpected elements.

Middle Notes

Lavendar Essence, Spearmint Essence, Orange Flower Absolute

The middle notes introduce the fresh, floral, aromatic, and woody elements to the perfume. They all perfectly blend together to create the elevated notes that last about an hour until it fades into the base notes.

Base Notes

Milk Mousse Accord, Sandalwood Essence, Cedarwood Essence

As if you’re drinking coffee in front of the fireplace, the base notes of the perfume create a cozy lingering scent that lasts throughout the day. The Milk Mousse Accord is inspired by the milk froth in lattes and invites sweetness to the fragrance while the Sandalwood and Cedarwood blend balances it out with musk.

I wish the Coffee Accord lasted longer because I love the warmth it brings. However, all in all, the Maison Margiela ‘REPLICA’ Coffee Break is the perfect cozy scent to add to your collection.

Perfume Notes Explained

Have you ever wondered what the notes mean in fragrances? I know I have. To keep it simple, the notes refer to how long the scents last, with the top note dissipating the quickest and the base note lasting the longest.

  • TOP – The first notes you smell aka the first impression of the fragrance, which fade quickly into the base notes.
  • MIDDLE – The heart of the perfume, which lasts about an hour until it lingers to the base note.
  • BASE – The notes that linger all day and are the most prominent once the other notes have faded.

If you ever noticed your fragrance shifting throughout the day, the notes are the reason for this, so it’s nice to keep a travel cartridge if you’re planning on keeping the perfume fresh throughout the day. Otherwise, you can enjoy the lingering scents, which is also nice. Interesting right? When choosing a new perfume, I’d definitely suggest taking the different notes into account.

Hot Tip: It’s a good idea to buy a travel size or ask for a sample size before splurging on the full bottle. That may sound obvious, but you never know when you could be tempted to buy the full size because of a trend or something. Scents smell differently on everyone and will shift throughout the day, so you want to make sure you enjoy all of the notes. You never want to spend tons of money on a fragrance that you end up disliking! Once you splurge on the full sized perfume, you’ll have it for a long time. I still have perfumes that are about 5 years old.
